These items are recommended to be replaced every 3 yrs. by your engine manufacturer.

We have seen parts last longer, but when they have to be replaced you will run into problems like breaking bolts off in the motor or having a corroded matting surface (where the manifold seals to engine).

This problem was discovered during an annual service.

This internal rust causes restricted water flow. Rust also causes parts to swell and crack allowing the loss of engine coolant or coolant being mixed with sea water.

Here is a set of manifolds, risers and elbows that were 4 yrs. old.

 The best way to prevent over heating and avoid costly repairs is to replace these parts every 3 yrs.

One way to check yours is the touch test. They should be cool or just warm. You should be able to hold your hand on them. If they are hot you have poor water / coolant flow. Part should be replaced.
